On May 31, 1889, a neglected dam and a phenomenal storm led to a catastrophe in which 2,209 people died. It's a story of great tragedy, but also of triumphant recovery. The Johnstown Flood Museum appeals to groups of all ages - seniors, students and everyone in between! We can arrange a tour with a special admission rate for any group of 10 or more -- but tours should be arranged in advance with Melissa Bacon, Visitor Services Manager, at 814-539-1889 x 311.

Group rates for just the Johnstown Flood Museum are available, but combination rates for both the Johnstown Flood Museum and the Heritage Discovery Center are an even better value - so plan to visit both sites! The two museums, which are located a half-mile apart, make for a wonderful day of sightseeing.

There are three separate curricula for the Johnstown Flood Museum, "Recipe for Disaster," "Rebuild or Move On?" and "Telling the Story." Each is designed to help teachers and student group leaders make the most out of a visit to us, and include pre-, post- and on-site activities -- click on the hotlink to browse these exciting programs.
- Catered lunches served on-site at the Heritage Discovery Center or Johnstown Flood Museum. Hot buffet lunches and sandwich buffets are available -- click here for a complete menu. Boxed lunches, and pail "immigrant" lunches are also available. Call for pricing.
- Step-on guides are available to help your group get the most out of your trip to Johnstown. Your guide can meet your bus at any Johnstown-area attraction, and share fascinating stories about the flood and Johnstown's history as you travel between attractions.
- Guided walking tours are available of downtown Johnstown. Your guide will share stories of many historic sites, including many flood-surviving buildings.
- Bus parking -- Free, dedicated bus parking is available three blocks away from the museum's entrance.
