The Friday, Saturday and Sunday of Labor Day weekend (Aug. 29-31, 2008) - Johnstown, Pennsylvania

Community Kitchen

Johnstown-area non-profits and churches are invited to participate in the Community Kitchen at FolkFest! Through this initiative, local non-profit organizations and churches are provided with a booth to vend food and drinks without paying a booth fee (a $500 value). As in previous years, the Community Kitchen booths will be located in a prominent area on the festival midway.

JAHA promotes Community Kitchen participants on this Web site, the FolkFest program, and through media relations efforts. Participating in the Community Kitchen is a great way to raise money while also publicizing your organization and its mission.

Community Kitchen vendors receive:

  • A 10'X10' booth located in a prominent place along the festival midway, with lighting, 8' of counter space and grease mats

  • Access to the refrigeration and freezer truck, electricity and water

  • Booth and menu signage

  • Promotion on JAHA's website, the Johnstown Magazine FolkFest Program, and through public relations efforts

  • The opportunity to earn money for their organizations' programs

To vend food at the Community Kitchen, your organization must:

  • Provide a completed application and $250 deposit to JAHA - the deposit will be refunded at the conclusion of the festival.

  • Provide a certificate of insurance to the festival.

  • Comply with city health licensing requirements - we will help you with the details, and your application will include the necessary paperwork
    .
  • Take scrip, the festival's official currency

  • 2008 will be the fifth year for the Community Kitchen, and JAHA hopes to continue to grow the initiative. To inquire about the Community Kitchen, please contact Shelley Johansson at 814-539-1889 x 308.
