Johnstown Homecoming | The Footprints program is helping current and former Johnstowners take a fresh look at all that's happening in our city - and to be a part of it. Through the Footprints program, the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies is encouraging people to "leave their footprints" in this area by establishing or contributing to a charitable fund--including the FolkFest Endowment Fund, which is designed to keep the festival going forever.
|
The Footprints program was established in 2004 and continued through 2005. At FolkFest 2006, festivalgoers will again have the opportunity to visit the Homecoming Station, or "Meeting Place"! This year the "Meeting Place" will be located at the corner of Johns and Walnut Streets this year, as shown on the 2006 festival map.
This "Meeting Place" will include bulletin boards where people can post their contact information to reach old friends, as well as information about all the exciting new developments in Johnstown. There will also be seating, a place to relax in the shade, and a FolkFest information booth.
A special Johnstown FolkFest Homecoming package is available to make "coming home" for FolkFest easier and more affordable! This package, which will be promoted through the Pennsylvania Tourism Office as part of the Pennsylvania Homecomings program, is with the Holiday Inn Downtown. The Holiday Inn is located at 250 Market Street, which is within walking distance of festival grounds.
Cost for the two-night package is $265 for two people -- including all taxes and gratuities. To make reservations, contact the Holiday Inn at 800-433-5663 and ask for the Johnstown FolkFest Homecoming package, which includes:
- Accommodations for two people for either Friday, September 1 and Saturday, September 2, or Saturday, September 2 and Sunday, September 3; indicate which dates you prefer when you call to make your reservation
- Breakfast buffet for two at the Holiday Inn's award-winning restaurant, Harrigan's Cafe & Wine Deck, on Sunday morning
- Meeting rooms and banquet space are also available for large groups -- inquire when you call to make your reservations, or contact Dicia Stoltz, Catering Sales Manager for the Holiday Inn, at 814-535-7777, ext. 103.
For more information on travel packages, visit the Accommodations, Packages & Directions page on this site.
The Footprints program, which also includes an advertising campaign and Internet presence, has been funded through the generosity of Mark Pasquerilla, chairman of Crown American Enterprises.
