Re-Live History and Explore the Trails

In preparation for Race Day, read up on the history of the historic 1889 Johnstown Flood, and learn more about the Path of the Flood Trail and other local trails.

Runners are asked to wear BLUE or GREEN for race day to simulate water.

Race Week Schedule

Packet Pick-Up

Runners will pick up their packets at Peoples Natural Gas Park Oilhouse (90 Johns St./Johnstown, PA 15901)

  • Thursday, May 25, 12 pm – 7:00 pm
  • Friday, May 26, 12 pm – 8:00 pm

*If you need to pick up your packet on race day morning, you can pick up at the same location from 5:30-7:00 am. on May 27. Those runners who plan on attending the Friday Night Pre-Race Dinner will be able to pick up packets at the dinner.

Shuttle Buses

Shuttle buses will begin leaving People’s Natural Gas Park for the Half Marathon and 12K start at 6:00 a.m. Buses will begin leaving People’s Natural Gas Park for the 5K start at 6:45 a.m. See Race Day Information tab for further details.

Cheer Party

Thursday, May 25, 5 – 7 pm
Friends and family of runners: Join us at the cheer party to make posters for Race Day! On Race Day, rally-ers are welcome to stand wherever they’d like along the course holding signs, cheering on runners, and giving out high-fives.

Pre-Race Pasta Dinner

Friday, May 26 at 6:30 p.m.- 8 p.m.
Peoples Natural Gas Park Oilhouse (90 Johns St./Johnstown, PA 15901)

Cost: $10 – Includes pasta, salad, rolls and drinks, AND full, free access to the Johnstown Flood Museum (304 Washington St) with a tour guide available. This is a great way to absorb the impact of the flood and make the run on Saturday much more memorable.

Post-Race Festival

After finishing the race, relax and enjoy live music and food during the post-race festival under the open-air pavilion at the beautiful Peoples Natural Gas Park. Complimentary pizza and one complimentary beverage will be available to participants. Participants 21 years of age and older can choose between a complimentary alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage. Participants under the age of 21 will receive one complimentary soft drink. Additional drinks will be available to purchase. Raynes’ Backyard BBQ will also be available with delicious food and drink items to purchase (cash only).

There will be an Awards Ceremony at 9 a.m. for the 5K, 10 a.m. for the 12K, and 11 a.m. for the Half Marathon at Peoples Natural Gas Park. Locally crafted awards from Koch’s Ceramics in Johnstown will be presented for the top three male and female runners in each race.

Post-Race Activities

  • Taste and Tour: On Saturday, May 27th, the Discover Downtown Johnstown will be holding their 4th Annual Taste and Tour from 4:00-7:00 pm.
  • Guided Tours of the South Fork Clubhouse: On Saturday, May 27, The National Park Service: Western PA Sites will be hosting Guided Tours of the Clubhouse of the South Fork Fishing and Hunting Club will be offered from 10:30 am-4:00 pm and will begin every half hour. Reservations required: please call (814) 886-6170.
  • Walking Tours of Cottage Row: On Sunday, May 28, The National Park Service: Western PA Sites will be hosting Walking Tours of Cottage Row will be offered from 11:00 am-3:00 pm and will be offered on the hour. Reservations required; please call (814) 886-6170
  • Explore the Trails
  • Flood Museum and Discovery Network Museums: Visit all the attractions in the Johnstown Discovery Network!
