The dam is one of the best-loved exhibits in the entire the Johnstown Children’s Museum, and after 15 years of heavy use it’s ready for a makeover! The Westwood Garden Haven, under leadership of Christa Callahan, will work to repair and refurbish the water pump and dam mechanism. The entire top of the dam will be molded and recast in fiberglass, and new woodwork to support the structure will be installed underneath.
Effective immediately, the dam will be turned off so it can completely dry out before the repairs, and the dam will be removed from the museum on September 4. The rest of the water room will remain open throughout the process.
We are grateful to The Garden Haven for their expert assistance, and to the Westwood Kiwanis, who are providing up to $1,000 to cover costs associated with this much-needed refurbishment.
We appreciate your patience as we work to improve the Johnstown Children’s Museum!
