Washington Street Bridge, 1884.
Drawing of Stone Bridge before 1889 flood.
The Stone Bridge with Cambria Iron & Steel behind.
The Stone Bridge was the only bridge to survive the flood.
Thirty acres of debris backed up behind the bridge.
The debris caught fire. Some victims of the flood survived the water, but were trapped in the debris and died in the fire.
When the Gautier Wire Plant washed away, miles of barbed wire tangled in the mess at the bridge.
