Director of Rentals & Sales

Each of JAHA’s venues — Johnstown Flood Museum; the Frank & Sylvia Pasquerilla Heritage Discovery Center, which includes the Johnstown Children’s Museum; the Wagner-Ritter House and Garden; Peoples Natural Gas Park; and the historic Johnstown Train Station) may be rented to interested parties for events that range from private events (receptions, reunions, weddings and showers) to public events (concerts and festivals).

The Director of Rentals and Sales position is full-time. Weekends and evening work is required. The salary is $15.00/hour with PTO. Health benefits are available.

This position reports directly to JAHA’s Chief Operating Officer and/or the President and Chief Executive Officer.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for preparing event budgets, estimates, license agreements, final billing/settlements, and reports
  • Gift shop purchasing and quarterly inventory
  • Must be or will be PA Liquor Control Board RAMP certified manager
  • Purchase of and management of alcohol for all events (rentals and JAHA produced)
  • Alcohol inventory immediately following each event
  • The creation of an invoice for each event – to be issued by the chief financial officer
  • Responsible for the operational and financial success of all rental events in JAHA’s various venues
  • Duties include marketing the venues, sales, booking, logistics an assignment of staff for rental events
  • Directly supervises bartenders
  • Acts as primary liaison for rental events
  • Works with other JAHA staff on internal events
  • Coordinates with external services (i.e. caterers and other vendors)
  • Maintains relationships with various other vendors who are essential to the successful presentation of events
  • And other duties as required

EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field or a bachelor’s degree in Arts Management, Business, Hospitality/Events/Tourism Management, or a related field is preferred; candidates with commensurate experience are also encouraged to apply.

WORK EXPERIENCE
Required 2 years of employment in business, conferences, events, customer service, or a related field.

Maintenance Coordinator

The Maintenance Co-Ordinator position is full-time. Weekends and evening work is required. The salary is $15.00/hour with PTO. Health benefits are available.

This position reports directly to Director of Membership and Development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervising janitorial/maintenance staff – working alongside if needed
  • Building maintenance of all JAHA venues. Includes weekly walk throughs to note maintenance and repair needs and performing that work or arranging for an outside vendor to do so
  • Seasonal outdoor work including but not limited to snowblowing, clearing steps, mowing
  • Maintaining inventory of all necessary supplies, both janitorial and maintenance-related
  • Works with the Curator to ensure that exhibits are functioning
  • Works with other JAHA staff on preparation for, presentation and post cleanup of events – particularly the Director of Sales and Rentals
  • And other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS

Electrical, plumbing, mechanical and small repair experience
Supervisory experience
