2022 has proven to be an exciting year for our historic train station! Amtrak has received federal and state funding for renovations of the train station and will soon be remodeling the ticket office, checked baggage area and the passenger tunnel. The next steps will be to demolish the current outdated platform and replace it with a modern headhouse and passenger platform. Beyond Amtrak's projects, the Train Station Capture Team and JAHA are laying the groundwork for the station remodeling and returning this landmark building to its previous splendor. This requires project funds not covered under the federal and state grants but necessary to keep the facility in a state of good repair. Our team of volunteers spends many hours each month maintaining the exterior and interion of the station and cleaning so we can proudly welcome visitors, family, and friends to our hometown. Some needs extend beyond the skills that we volunteers possess, and we are seeking funds to cover these expenses. We currently need to restore electrical service to the freight station and add lighting to areas of the station for safety purposes. We also need to do a major cleanup of the entire station. This is all necessary to prepare for the upcoming station renovations. We appreciate donations of any amount and will target 100% of these donations to grassroots work by our station volunteers. Donations are tax-deductible. Visit Craig Saylor’s facebook page for opportunities to donate. ... See MoreSee Less
