The Heritage Discovery Center and Johnstown Children's Museum welcome school groups!

The Heritage Discovery Center welcomes thousands of students every year. We at JAHA are proud to enhance student learning with the rich history Johnstown! We have plenty to offer at our facilities, so we encourage you to give Visitor Services a call at 539-1889 x 311 or use the form below to send us an email. Our Director of Visitor Services will be happy to assist you, ensuring your school group will have a fun-filled and educational tour!

What can you do at the Heritage Discovery Center?

  • Enjoy playing in the Johnstown Children’s Museum.
  • Have lunch in one of our provided lunch spaces.
  • Visit the Iron and Steel Gallery and watch our extra-sensory film “Mystery of Steel”.
  • Take a tour through Johnstown viewing through the eyes of an 1800s Immigrant.
  • Have a lesson with our Children’s Museum staff.

Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) Provides Reduced Student Admissions for Pennsylvania Public Schools

JAHA is proud to be listed as an approved Educational Improvement Organization in Pennsylvania’s
well-established Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program. The EITC program directly benefits Pennsylvania public school students by providing discounted student admission to all sites and giving participating students a hands-on educational experience by from JAHA’s exhibits, which are supported by on-line educational materials and activities that are aligned with the state’s education standards. Resources for School Groups

JAHA has developed detailed online resources for teachers to use before, during and after their visit to the Heritage Discovery Center. These programs allow students to use primary and secondary research materials to explore themes relevant to the museum, and all meet Pennsylvania state education standards.
