A special message from the chair of JAHA’s board of directors, Mark Pasquerilla:
We are embarking on an important project related to accessibility of this beautiful museum building, the Frank & Sylvia Pasquerilla Heritage Discovery Center. Named for my parents, the Heritage Discovery Center is home to a permanent exhibition on immigration to this area around the turn of the last century, and the Iron & Steel Gallery, telling how Johnstown was critically important to the development of those industries. We host temporary exhibitions on a wide variety of subjects, and the Johnstown Children’s Museum lets kids to learn about our shared heritage through play.
The front ramp and steps to our building need replacement after 20 years of use. We’ve removed the ramp concrete and are ready to go! We were delighted to learn that the cost for the work is $30,000, rather than the $40,000 we had initially assumed.
JAHA is ramping up museum activities after a long period of COVID-influenced dormancy. On behalf of the board of directors, I am asking for your help in restoring this part of our building.
