JAHA at Home: Navigating Dangerous Times — Remembering David McCullough

In an address to Wesleyan University’s graduating class of 1984, beloved historian, writer, and Pittsburgh native David McCullough reminded the graduates that “history is a guide to navigating perilous times. History is who we are and why we are the way we are.” JAHA’s own Richard Burkert took part in a recent panel discussion of McCullough’s legacy and his contributions to the field of history and American literature, held by the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. Additional panelists were Frank Lucchino, Emeritus Trustee for Carnegie Library; Andrew Masich, President and CEO of the Senator John Heinz History Center; and Tom McMillan, author and former Vice President of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Pittsburgh filmmaker and actor, Mary Rawson, moderated the discussion.

The Carnegie Library made this lively discussion available online, and we’re pleased to share it with you as part of our JAHA at Home series.
